Antique Platinum & Rose-Cut Diamond Prussian “FR” Eagle Stick Pin, c.1890–1910

An exceptionally detailed antique platinum and rose-cut diamond stick pin, dating to approximately 1890–1910, designed in the form of the distinctive Crowned Prussian Eagle with the intertwined initials “FR”.

Finely crafted on a remarkable miniature scale, the eagle is depicted wearing a royal crown with its wings raised, while holding the traditional symbols of sovereignty — the orb and sceptre. Across the body appears the intertwined FR monogram, traditionally associated with the Latin Fridericus Rex, meaning “King Frederick.”

The crowned eagle and FR cipher have a long historical association with the Prussian monarchy and the House of Hohenzollern, particularly with the royal tradition established under Frederick I, who became King in Prussia in 1701. This striking emblem became one of the most recognisable symbols connected with Prussian royal identity.

The eagle is intricately pierced, engraved and set throughout with numerous antique rose-cut diamonds. These old hand-cut stones possess the wonderfully distinctive character of early diamond cutting, producing a soft, silvery sparkle that changes beautifully with the light.

Every part of the miniature composition has been carefully considered — from the crown and individually articulated feathers to the tiny orb, sceptre and intertwined monogram. The reverse reveals the pierced construction and open-backed diamond settings, demonstrating the remarkably delicate workmanship involved in creating such a small and complex jewel.

The long platinum pin is finished with an elegant twisted detail towards the lower section, adding another subtle element of craftsmanship to the design.

Weighing only 2.93 grams, this is a wonderfully refined example of late 19th- to early 20th-century European jewellery: historically evocative, beautifully executed and exceptionally collectible.

The platinum has been professionally tested.

Please note: The Prussian royal symbolism and FR monogram are identified from the design and historical iconography of the piece. No specific provenance connecting this individual jewel to a named member of the Prussian Royal Family is claimed unless supported by separate documentary evidence.
