Late Edwardian / Early Art Deco Natural Pearl & Diamond Brooch in 18ct Gold and Platinum — With Original Antique Box

“To my good wife of 50 years.”

The accompanying original antique box bears this touching gold-lettered dedication, together with the date “24. XI. 1867–1917” and the initials “J. R.” Marking a golden wedding anniversary, the inscription preserves a beautiful expression of fifty years together.

Dating stylistically to the late Edwardian–early Art Deco transition, circa 1910–1920, this elegant oval brooch combines the delicacy of Edwardian jewellery with an increasingly geometric design.

Five natural pearls form a graceful central row, displaying subtly different hues of cream, soft pink and lavender. Small diamonds alternate between the pearls, bringing bright accents to their softly luminous lustre.

Surrounding them, symmetrical pointed arches and diamond-shaped openwork create an intricate framework set with sparkling natural antique-cut diamonds. Fine milgrain borders trace the settings, adding texture and definition to the airy design.

Crafted in 18ct yellow gold and platinum, the brooch has a gold mark on its pin. Its refined proportions make it a lovely accent for a lapel, neckline or scarf.
