DESCRIPTION:

A refined and historically significant Georgian portrait locket, circa 1790, attributed to the celebrated English silhouette artist John Miers (1758–1821). Miers was the most successful silhouette painter of the late 18th century, renowned for his precision and elegant profile renderings. His works were highly prized in fashionable society, with patrons including members of the aristocracy.

This finely preserved example features:

Hand-painted silhouette portrait of a gentleman, executed in jet-black pigment on ivory, with delicate attention to hair and clothing details.
