Poppy Dandiya 18K Gold Natural Emerald & Ruby Crossover Ring – London 1998

A striking British designer ring by Poppy Dandiya, handcrafted in substantial 18K yellow gold and set with two vivid natural emeralds and two natural rubies.

Created in Dandiya’s highly distinctive crossover style, the ring combines bold sculptural form with an ancient-inspired character. Its opposing ends curve towards one another, supporting two dramatic flared cup settings that give the design a strong architectural presence.

Each cup is set with a beautiful oval faceted natural emerald measuring approximately 7.5 × 5mm. Both emeralds display an attractive rich green colour, with clearly defined facets that catch the light beautifully. Natural inclusions are visible within the stones, giving each emerald its own individual character.

Two round natural cabochon rubies, each measuring approximately 2mm in diameter, are set into the shoulders of the ring. Their vibrant red colour forms a striking contrast with the emeralds and warm yellow gold.

The gold retains a softly hammered, subtly matte finish, emphasising the handmade nature of the piece. Weighing approximately 11.52g, the ring feels wonderfully substantial while remaining comfortable and beautifully balanced when worn.

The interior bears a complete London hallmark comprising the designer/maker’s mark “PD”, the “750” mark for 18K gold, the London leopard’s head and the lowercase date letter “y” for 1998.

Why You’ll Love It

This is an instantly recognisable example of Poppy Dandiya’s sculptural approach to jewellery. The rich emerald green, vivid ruby red and softly textured 18K gold create a dramatic yet beautifully balanced composition.

Its handmade finish and ancient-inspired crossover form give the ring a timeless quality—appearing both contemporary and evocative of historic goldwork.

Substantial, colourful and highly individual, it is a distinctive piece of collectible British studio jewellery.

Condition

In very good vintage condition, with all four gemstones securely set.

The gold retains light surface marks and gentle signs of previous wear consistent with age. These subtle traces complement the softly hammered handmade finish and do not detract from the beauty of the ring.
