Description
A warm golden topaz sits at the centre of this late Georgian ring, framed by a halo of 16 softly lustrous natural pearls. Its gently flattened oval face is wider than it is tall, while the broad gold shoulders taper towards the band.
The topaz is set with a closed back and foil backing, known as foiled back. A thin layer of metal foil behind the gemstone reflects light through it, enriching its colour and glow. This historic technique was especially popular in Georgian jewellery and gives the stone its distinctive warmth.

Condition
In very good antique condition. The pearl surround and closed-back setting are well preserved. As with all antique jewellery, gentle signs of age may be present.
