Georgian Portrait Miniature Brooch | c.1820 | 18K Gold & Silver | Antique Rose Cut Diamond | Hand-Painted Portrait | Museum Quality
£3,125.00
A remarkable Georgian portrait miniature brooch dating to around the 1820s, beautifully handcrafted in 18K gold and silver and designed in the elegant Neoclassical Urn motif that became synonymous with the refinement of the Georgian era.
At its centre is an exquisitely hand-painted portrait miniature of a graceful lady, delicately rendered with remarkable detail and expression. Her softly curled hairstyle, adorned with a pearl headband, and flowing white gown reflect the timeless elegance of early nineteenth-century European portraiture. Set against a gentle sky-blue background, the painting retains exceptional clarity and colour after more than two centuries, making it as much a miniature work of art as a piece of jewellery.
Surrounding the portrait is a finely matched border of natural antique Rose Cut Diamonds, individually hand-cut to create the soft, candlelit sparkle that distinguishes early diamonds from modern brilliant cuts. Their subtle brilliance beautifully complements the rich patina of the original silver setting.
The elegant Urn finial above the portrait, together with delicate scrollwork throughout the frame, reflects the influence of Classical Greek and Roman architecture that defined Georgian jewellery design. Every detail demonstrates the exceptional craftsmanship of the period.
A particularly desirable feature is the original Safety Chain, still present after more than 200 years. Not only does it enhance security when worn, but it is also a wonderful indication of the brooch’s originality and careful preservation.
Professionally tested and guaranteed, this is a beautifully preserved example of Georgian jewellery—combining history, artistry and craftsmanship in a piece worthy of the finest antique collections.
