1902 Irish Sterling Silver Teapot with Castle Finial | West & Son, Dublin

A little castle stands atop the softly rounded lid of this Edwardian silver teapot.
Made in Dublin in 1902 and bearing the name of West & Son, the teapot has a low, generous body with an undecorated silver surface. Its gently rising spout and curved, heat-insulated handle give the piece an elegant, balanced silhouette.
The cast castle finial brings a delightful change of scale. Tiny towers, battlements, stonework and a pointed doorway are visible in its carefully modelled form. Dublin’s city coat of arms features three burning castles; this unusual finial may be a quiet nod to that centuries-old emblem.
The base bears a “WEST & SON” trade stamp, together with Dublin hallmarks: the crowned harp for sterling silver, Hibernia as the Dublin assay mark, and the date letter “G” for 1902. Inside, the teapot is clean, with subtle hammer marks visible. A pierced strainer is fitted at the base of the spout.
