Victorian Diamond Crescent Brooch c.1890 18ct Gold & Silver
DESCRIPTION:
Evoking the quiet elegance of the night sky, this exquisite Victorian crescent brooch, circa 1890, captures the romance and symbolism of the era. The crescent — a favoured motif in late 19th-century jewellery — was worn as a token of change, growth, and feminine strength, rendered here with dazzling precision.
Crafted in 18ct yellow gold with silver settings, the brooch is adorned with a graduated row of seventeen natural old-cut diamonds, each hand-faceted to shimmer with the soft, distinctive light unique to antique stones.
The diamonds range in size from approx. 4mm to 1mm, with an estimated total weight of 1.01ct. Their bright white brilliance is perfectly complemented by the refined metalwork, which remains in excellent condition more than a century later.
DETAILS:
• Materials: 18ct gold & silver (tested)
• Gemstones: Natural old-cut diamonds, total approx. 1.01ct
• Dimensions: 5.1cm long; 3.5mm thick
• Weight: 3.8g
• Condition: Excellent antique condition with all stones secure and original. No repairs or replacements.
A timeless piece of Victorian artistry — equally suited to wear as a celestial statement or to treasure as part of a discerning collection.
