Victorian Natural Pink Sapphire & Pearl Brooch c.1880 in 15ct Gold, Enamel & Rose-Cut Diamonds WGI Certified
DESCRIPTION
A magnificent Victorian brooch from c.1880, masterfully crafted in 15ct gold with exquisite black enamel accents. This impressive piece showcases a luxurious combination of natural unheated Burmese pink sapphires, antique rose-cut diamonds, and natural blister pearls, arranged in a beautiful multi-layered circular design.
At the center lies a luminous 11mm natural blister pearl, framed by a radiating halo of golden petal motifs. Surrounding the pearl is a vibrant ring of 32 natural Burmese pink sapphires in varying tones of purplish-pink to bright pink, totalling approximately 5 carats. Their colour is vivid and feminine, perfectly complemented by the sparkle of 16 antique rose-cut diamonds delicately set between the petals.
The outer garland-like motif is adorned with six natural pearls and additional pink sapphire clusters, enhancing the brooch’s richness and Victorian charm.
The craftsmanship is intricate and full of period character. The back shows typical Victorian handwork with small antique soldering points. Two sapphires display minor chips, consistent with age and mentioned for accuracy.
Accompanied by a WGI laboratory report (No. WGI9634165177) confirming the natural, unheated origin of the sapphires. A highly collectible antique jewel with outstanding beauty and presence.
