Victorian c.1890s Amethyst & Diamond Pendant | Siberian-Type Amethyst | 18K Gold & Silver Antique Jewellery

DESCRIPTION

An exceptional Victorian-era antique pendant, dating to the circa 1890s, crafted in the traditional combination of 18K gold and silver, and set with a magnificent natural amethyst surrounded by antique-cut diamonds.

The centerpiece is a large, finely cut natural amethyst displaying the rich, saturated purple hue historically associated with Siberian (Russian) amethyst — a colour highly prized in the 19th century for its depth, intensity, and subtle red-violet undertones. This distinctive tone was especially admired in high-end Victorian and royal jewellery of the period.

The amethyst is beautifully faceted, allowing light to move gracefully through the stone and reveal layers of luminous purple brilliance. Surrounding it is a halo of natural antique diamonds, including old mine cuts and rose cuts, which provide a soft yet lively sparkle and perfectly complement the silver-topped setting typical of the era.

This pendant remains in excellent antique condition, with secure settings and well-preserved details. A refined and elegant piece, equally suitable for wearing or for inclusion in a serious antique jewellery collection.
