Victorian 9ct Gold Egyptian Revival Masonic Pendant Carved Egyptian Head | In Hoc Signo Vinces | Hiram Abiff Symbolism
£1,650.00
A fascinating Victorian-era Egyptian Revival pendant crafted in 9ct gold, combining the mystery of Ancient Egypt with rich Masonic symbolism.
This remarkable antique piece features a finely carved Egyptian head framed by elegant white enamel decoration. Below hangs a detailed cross-shaped emblem bearing the Latin motto:
“In Hoc Signo Vinces”
Translated as:
“In This Sign, Conquer” or “By This Sign, You Shall Triumph.”
The phrase has long been associated with faith, courage, and victory, making it one of the most recognisable mottos in Western history.
The reverse is engraved with the initials:
HTWSSTKS
A rare Masonic abbreviation standing for:
Hiram, Tyrian, Widow’s Son, Sent To King Solomon
This reference relates to the legendary figure Hiram Abiff, the master craftsman of King Solomon’s Temple and one of the most important symbolic figures in Freemasonry. Hiram represents integrity, loyalty, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to principle.
The pendant beautifully reflects the Victorian fascination with Egyptology, symbolism, secret societies, and historical revival styles. Pieces combining Egyptian Revival design and Masonic iconography are increasingly sought after by collectors.
