An elegant Late Victorian diamond bow brooch, dating to circa 1890, beautifully crafted in silver-topped 18ct gold and set throughout with natural rose-cut diamonds.
Designed as a softly tied ribbon bow, the piece features gracefully curved loops, a diamond-set central knot and two delicate trailing ribbons. The three-dimensional construction gives the bow a wonderfully light and fluid appearance.
The front is set throughout with natural rose-cut diamonds, individually graduated to follow the contours of the ribbon. Their antique hand-cut facets create a distinctive soft yet lively sparkle, particularly beautiful in natural light.
The piece is professionally tested as 18ct gold and silver, a characteristic combination found in fine 19th-century diamond jewellery. The silver-topped setting provides a bright backdrop for the diamonds, while the gold forms the supporting structure beneath.
The reverse retains its traditional gold pin and C-shaped clasp, which is marked with a capital letter “A”.
Originally designed as a brooch, the open bow construction also allows a fine chain to pass through, making it equally attractive worn as a pendant.
