A beautiful and highly collectible Georgian micro mosaic brooch dating to the early 19th century, crafted in tested 9ct gold and featuring an exquisite Italian landscape scene.
Composed of countless tiny hand-cut glass tesserae, the central panel depicts a romantic architectural ruin framed by trees and sky. Encircled by a vivid cobalt blue border and an ornate repoussé gold surround, the brooch beautifully captures the artistry and elegance of the Grand Tour era.
During the Georgian period, micro mosaic jewels were treasured souvenirs brought home from Italy by wealthy European travellers undertaking the Grand Tour. Each panel required extraordinary patience and skill, with thousands of minute glass pieces painstakingly assembled by hand to create miniature works of art.

CONDITION
Excellent antique condition.
The mosaic remains vibrant and beautifully preserved, with a smooth and stable surface. Under magnification, two tiny tesserae losses can be observed, which are minimal and consistent with age. They do not detract from the overall beauty and are considered acceptable for a piece approaching two centuries old.
The original pin and clasp remain secure and in good working order.
