Edwardian 18K White Gold & Platinum Natural Saltwater Pearl, Emerald & Diamond Bow Necklace | GCS Certified | c.1900–1910

An exceptionally elegant Edwardian necklace, beautifully composed as a diamond-set ribbon bow suspending delicate floral motifs, vivid green emeralds and a certified natural saltwater pearl.

Dating to approximately 1900–1910, the necklace displays the lightness and refinement characteristic of Edwardian jewellery. The central jewel has been professionally tested as 18K white gold and platinum, with an airy openwork construction inspired by the graceful bows, flowers and foliage of the period.

At the top, a finely modelled ribbon bow is set throughout with natural antique-cut diamonds, centred by a larger diamond measuring approximately 2.5mm. Two slender diamond-set ribbons descend to a pair of charming five-petal flowers, each centred with a natural green emerald. Small diamond-set leaves complete the floral composition.

The necklace is set with a total of 29 natural antique-cut diamonds, individually varying slightly in size and character, giving the piece the soft, distinctive sparkle associated with antique hand-cut stones.

Suspended beneath is a beautiful natural saltwater pearl, measuring approximately 10.2 × 7.0–7.1mm. Its softly rounded drop form and warm cream colour display a particularly attractive natural lustre.

The pearl is accompanied by a GCS (Gemological Certification Services, London) Pearl Report, No. 80261-79, identifying it as:

The combination of a certified natural saltwater pearl with diamonds and emeralds is particularly evocative of fine Edwardian jewellery, while the bow-and-flower composition gives the necklace an exceptionally feminine and romantic character.

The original white-metal section of the necklace has no visible hallmark but has been professionally tested. A later 9K yellow gold extension chain, marked 375, has been added, allowing the necklace to be worn at approximately 39cm or extended to approximately 57cm.

Presented in its original antique jewellery box, the necklace remains in very good antique condition and is a beautifully preserved example of early 20th-century jewellery.
