A charming antique seal fob from around 1800, featuring a deep red glass intaglio engraved with a classical quadriga – a charioteer driving four horses.

The quadriga was a powerful symbol in the ancient world, often linked to Apollo, the sun god, who was believed to ride his fiery chariot across the sky each day. It also represented victory and triumph in Roman games and processions.

This example is mounted in an elegant 15ct gold frame, originally designed for a gentleman’s watch chain but today just as striking worn as a pendant.
