A softly luminous jadeite disc forms the centre of this pendant, framed by golden branches, a delicate plum blossom and a diamond-set magpie. Inspired by the traditional Chinese motif of a magpie perched on a plum branch, the design carries a wish for happiness and good news.
The natural jadeite has a subtle, pale colour and a polished, gently curved surface. Light passes through the stone to reveal soft variations in translucency and cloud-like internal features, giving it an individual character. A tiny green accent, enclosed in a gold bezel at the centre, adds a vivid focal point against the understated jade.
Crafted in 18ct yellow and white gold, the setting bears an “Au750” mark. Yellow gold branches follow the outer edge of the jadeite in an organic, gently winding outline. A sculpted plum blossom sits to one side, with finely textured petals and a raised centre.
Above the jadeite, a white gold magpie lifts its head, its long tail following the curve of the surrounding branches. Natural diamonds accent its wing, adding a delicate sparkle that complements the jadeite’s softer lustre.
In Chinese decorative art, the magpie and plum blossom together evoke the expression 喜上眉梢 — happiness showing in one’s face. The motif draws on the wordplay between “plum” and “eyebrow” in Chinese, while the rounded jadeite adds a sense of harmony and completeness.
