Venetian Blackamoor Pendant Mid-20th Century in 14K Gold & Gemstones
£4,750.00
DESCRIPTION:
An exceptional Venetian Blackamoor pendant, mid-20th century, finely crafted in 14K gold (marked 585) with an additional maker’s mark. This jewel continues the renowned Moretto tradition of Venice, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship, vibrant gemstones, and a richly symbolic design.
The carved black hardstone head is adorned with a regal gold turban, set with 5 natural ruby cabochons (approx. 4.5mm each) and accented by natural diamonds. A natural 8mm aquamarine sits above in a floral gold mount, providing a cool, luminous contrast.
The figure is further embellished with three brilliant-cut diamonds at the neckline. At the ear rests a small emerald (approx. 1.5mm), adding a subtle green accent. Suspended below, a finely hand-carved natural emerald in heart form (approx. 9.5 x 8.5 x 4mm) brings movement, color, and romance to the composition.
This pendant embodies the Venetian spirit of artistry and exoticism, with each element — gemstone, carving, and goldwork — harmonizing into a collectible jewel of distinction.
